Personal Information
Coders marked sections of audio and video recordings for identifying or embarassing information. These sections of audio and/or video were silenced and/or blacked out.
Object words might still have been said during sections that were otherwise considered personal. In these cases, words might be coded from sections of the recording that are now inaudible (silenced using a silencing script) or blacked out (darkened using a video script). Everything about the annotation remains the same (timestamp, object presence code, etc.) but if you were to visit this exact time point in the recording, you would not be able to hear the word being said.
If you are interested in the specific rules of what we considered personal information, please contact the Bergelson Lab via contact information on our lab website (bergelsonlab.com).
The beginning and end of sections of personal information in recordings were marked using comments: "begin personal information" and "end personal information" formatted to audio or video comment specifications.
